p63 is a homologous gene of the tumor suppressor gene p53. It is highly expressed in the basal layer of many epithelial tissues, expressed in myoepithelial cells of all normal breasts, partially expressed in ductal hyperplasia cells, and very rarely expressed in in situ breast cancer. , no expression in invasive ductal carcinoma. The loss of expression of p63 may be related to the progression of breast ductal carcinoma. Therefore, p63 immunohistochemical staining is helpful for the study of breast invasive ductal carcinoma, ductal carcinoma in situ, and a small number of suspicious ductal proliferative lesions. Recent studies have shown that p63 is a marker of prostate basal cells but is not expressed in the vast majority of prostate tumors.
