MLH1 Antibody (IHC)

MLH1 is a mismatch repair protein located at position 21.3 of the P arm of chromosome 3. Mutated mismatch repair proteins are often expressed in patients with high-frequency microsatellite instability (MSI-H) and are associated with autosomal dominant inheritance, also known as hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC). Also seen in patients with sporadic (MSI-H) colorectal cancer. MLH1, MSH2, and MSH6 antibodies can be used to screen patients and their families for this disease. The literature reports that colorectal cancer patients with high frequency of microsatellite instability (MSI-H) have better prognosis than patients with low frequency of microsatellite instability (MSI-L) and microsatellite stable (MSS).
