Bcl-2 is a member of the apoptotic protein family. It is a mitochondrial inner membrane protein with a molecular weight of 25kDa and is widely present in tissues. Bcl-2 is believed to inhibit apoptosis. 90% of follicular lymphomas undergo translocation on 18q21, turning the adjacent Bcl-2 gene into an immunoglobulin. Mainly used for labeling follicular lymphoma, hairy cell leukemia, and research on apoptosis.
