Caldesmon Antibody (IHC)

Caldesmon is a specific protein related to the regulation of smooth muscle contraction and is divided into two subtypes: low molecular weight (l-CD) and high molecular weight (h-CD). High molecular weight calcium-binding proteins are found only in smooth muscle cells and myoepithelial cells of the internal organs and vessels. This antibody can recognize high molecular weight calcium-binding proteins but not low molecular weight calcium-binding proteins. It is mainly used for the differential diagnosis of myogenic tumors and myofibroblastic tumors. It can be used in combination with CD10 to distinguish endometrial stromal sarcomas and smooth muscle tumors.
