Claudin-3 is a protein encoded by the human CLDN3 gene. It is a tight junction protein with a molecular weight of 22kDa and belongs to the Claudins family. Claudin-3 is expressed in the connection between ductal epithelium and acinar epithelium. This gene is found to be up-regulated in ovarian cancer. Increased expression increases the invasiveness and vitality of tumor cells. Some studies have shown that Claudin-3 may become a therapeutic target gene for prostate cancer.
