EMA is a group of glycoproteins that are widely distributed in various epithelial cells and the tumors they originate from, and are markers for many tumor tissues. Tumors with positive expression of EMA include most carcinomas, mesothelioma, synovial sarcoma and epithelioid sarcoma, but are almost not expressed in liver cancer, adrenal cancer, malignant lymphoma, melanoma and soft tissue tumors.
