Oct4 Antibody (IHC)

Oct4, also known as Oct3 or POU5F1, is a member of the POU transcription factor family. The gene is located on chromosome 6p21.31. Oct4 protein contains a conserved DNA-binding domain, the POU-binding domain, which can bind to specific DNA sequences to regulate the transcription of downstream target genes. It is mainly expressed in embryonic stem cells and germline stem cells, and plays an important role in maintaining the pluripotency of embryonic stem cells. Oct4 expression is downregulated in differentiated somatic cells. In tumor tissues, Oct4 is mainly expressed in germ cell tumors such as testicular germ cell tumors, seminoma, embryonal carcinoma, etc. Oct4 antibodies are mainly used for the auxiliary diagnosis of germ cell tumors.
