S100A4 is a member of the S100 calcium-binding protein family, which is secreted by tumor and stromal cells and promotes tumorigenesis by stimulating angiogenesis. S100A4 plays a role in processes such as cell motility, invasion, and microtubule multimerization. Chromosomal rearrangements and expression changes of the S100A4 gene are associated with tumor metastasis.
