Vimentin Antibody (IHC)

Vimentin is one of four primitive intermediate filament proteins (the other three are Nestin, GFAP and NF) and is a sensitive marker for normal mesenchymal cells and their tumors. Vimentin is less specific, and both vimentin and cytokeratin can be expressed in some epithelial cells and their source tumors. Therefore, in immunohistochemical diagnosis, this antibody needs to be used in combination with other antibodies to confirm the diagnosis. It is mainly used for the diagnosis of mesenchymal tumors and can also be used for the differential diagnosis of mesothelioma and adenocarcinoma.
