CK19 exists in normal epithelium and tumors of various epithelial origins, especially single-layer epithelium and mesothelium, and is often used to determine the epithelial origin of tumors. CK19 has specific staining for bile duct epithelium and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, with a positive rate of 77-100%, but does not stain hepatocytes and hepatocellular carcinoma. CK19 is currently one of the best immunohistochemical markers for the diagnosis of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma.
