CD235α, also known as Glycophorin A (glycophorin A), is a sialoglycoprotein located on the surface of human red blood cells and is a specific M and N blood group carrier. CD235α is an erythroid-specific antigen, and its expression accompanies the entire process of erythropoiesis. Maintaining high expression on each red blood cell indicates the maturity of the red blood cell. The neoplastic nucleated erythrocytes in most erythroleukemias express this protein, while acute myeloid leukemia and acute lymphoma leukemia hardly express glycophorin A. Therefore, glycophorin A is mainly used for the auxiliary diagnosis and identification of erythroid leukemia.
