Podoplanin recognizes a 40kDaO-linked salivary riboprotein that exists in embryonic testis and germ cell tumors. It can be expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells, but not in vascular endothelial cells. It is usually used to mark lymphatic endothelium in tissues. Helps to diagnose lymphatic endothelial cell-derived tumors and determine whether other tumor tissues have lymphatic infiltration and metastasis.
